The BackUp BarCode Back Story
Our core employees started working for the largest barcode hardware reseller (at that time) at the turn of the millennium. Jonnie Dodge (our owner) worked his way up from an inbound sales rep to a Business Development Manager in a couple of years. Shortly after being promoted, he took over the entire Business Development team and was eventually made responsible for all recruting, hiring, training, and production of new hires. He eventually moved on to manage another division of the company, where he incorporated purchasing and marketing into his other responsibilities. These last skills helped to round out the skillset needed to run a business while developing the relationships that would build the foundation of BackUp BarCode Systems. BackUp BarCode Systems was meant to be a temporary endeavor while he honored his non-compete agreement with his old company, but he promised employement to the people who helped him build the company as long as they wanted a job. BackUp BarCode will continue to exist until the last of the core employees have retired, but the foundation for a new business has been set. Jonnie went back to school to learn about wide area networks, programming, cyber-security, AI, and web development. These new skills and disciplines with 25 years' experience in B2B sales are already shaping the next phase of BackUp BarCode Systems while it is still growing.
